Mahananda Gomasta is a distinguished artist and designer, renowned for his unique sculpting skills. He has made a name for himself in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where he has gained significant recognition for his work. Gomasta’s artistry is particularly notable for his choice of materials. He carves his sculptures from wooden logs that he finds floating in the Bay of Bengal. This not only showcases his resourcefulness but also adds a distinctive touch to his creations. What truly sets Gomasta’s work apart, however, is his source of inspiration.

He draws heavily from the tribal people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This influence is evident in his sculptures, which beautifully capture the essence of the islands’ indigenous culture.
